I have been looking for a bike to buy and I have found many bicycle sellers with the same price lists but with different names, they have for sale brand new bicycles since 2007 to 2010 of the top brands in very atractive prices, for example they have a bike that in the market is $6,000.00 USD and they have it in $1,200.00 USD, I am about to buy one bike to them, they told me to send them money vian Western Union to the following address:

WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER
> NAME: Helen williams
> ADDRESS:3 MINSTER INDUSTRIAL PARK,
> CITY:WEST MOORS
> STATE: DORSET
> ZIP CODE:BH21 6QF
> COUNTRY:UNITED KINGDOM

I don't know if it is safe to send them 715 pound for my bike... how about if it is a fraud?? could someone help me??

@rodrigo_mx88. Welcome to AFI. Any company who asks you to send them money via Western union on the internet should put up a warning flag.

If you send the money via western union, the recipient cannot be traced so who would you contact if you lose your money and did not get your bike?

Come on, in the business world it is impossible to buy a $6,000.00 USD bike for $1,200.00 USD Why would the manufacture's of such a bike allow it to sell for such a low price? The answer is they would not.

Not only would it lower the value of their bike in the market place but would make their retailers very unhappy and they would stop buying from them.
No company would commit suicide like this it would not make any sense.

Buy from a local retailer where you will receive your bike and can talk face to face with them if there are any problems. If you send any money off via WU you will lose it.

first of all thank you very much for your answer, what I don't know is why there are lots of this kind of sellers of bikes in the web, here you can find the same kind of retailers:

http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/all-other-stuff/313489-for-sale-new-2009-trek-fuel-ex-9-bike-1600-a.html

http://pelupa.com/printer_friendly_posts.asp?TID=443

and same to these there are several announcements like this, I have chatted with some of them to buy the bike and they seem to be trustable but in the other hand I think is strange that they have all those bikes in those prices while in no other place those prices exist!! the truth is that i have a strong temptation to buy my bike them because it seems very attractive... the thing is that I don't know for sure if it is safe or not, I asked one of them to explain me how could I be sure is not a fraud and here is what he answered:

Hello ,

Thanks for your mail,we have to confirm your payment first, you have to trust us we are not a scam,we are a legitimate company in united kingdom.
I promise you that you we get your package in the next 48hours once we confirm your payment we are going to email you the tracking number and aslo the porfomal invoice okay.

My company have never treated any costumer bad,and we promise to treat your order perfectly,we definitely guarantee you that your order with us will be done smoothly and soundly,
western union money transfer is the best way of sending money to another country okay, and i promise you that you we not lose your money.

If you did not receiver your packages we are going to refund your money back to you okay you have to understand me.

I do well understand all your words due to the act of fraudulent in the world right now, this is a registered company licenced under insurance plc approved by the government and everything we do is been monitored by the government .

So you are 100% sure of recieving the bike within 48hours of confimation okay, dont be scared you are dealing with the rigth company.

So feel free you are secure of recieving your order, what are we to gain if we should have your pick up the money in the bank without the item been ship out besides the government is going to barned us simply because that is the act of fraudulent which is prohibited.

We also have a shipping insurance for all our customers , lets say for example the product you purchased got broken during shipment, what we will do is simply get the bikes back and send you another one.

We satisfy all our customers in every way possible, so you don't have to worry about not receiving your product ok.

Dear rodrigo_mx88. I Live in Australia and I am a well known real estate reseller. I have a large bridge for sale, it is called the Sydney harbor bridge, as the government want to build a new one I can let you have it cheap
just $1, 200

I look after all my customers so this is risky free. I do not have a bank account so you must send the payment to me via Western union.

I like animals and support them so you can trust me. I have a cat and a dog so you know I am reliable. The government is behind me as I am licensed with an insurance company so you can see I am a good guy. I also have my own driving license so you can believe me that I would never cheat anyone.

this is a registered company licenced under insurance plc approved by the government :pound:

Yes my website is in Hong Kong but I am in the UK so this makes me reliable.

**********************************

@rodrigo_mx88 need I go on or can you get the message yet?
The English of the scammer is very bad ( I am an Englishman) and he says he is licensed by an INSURANCE company??
For the record, a genuine company uses a BANK account NOT western union.
This IS a scam. Send your money at your own risk as you will lose it.

what I don't know is why there are lots of this kind of sellers of bikes in the web, There are hundreds of thousands of scammers on the internet, so a few pretending to sell bikes is not so unusual.

thank you to help me open my eyes, it's only that those prices were extremely atractive to me so I was about to take that risk but now I told the "retailer" that I will not pay him via western union, only if he gives me a guarantee or a safe way of payment I would think about it... if I pay via Pay Pal is it safe and sure that is not a scam??

It would make NO difference how you sent the money, you would NOT receive a bike.

IT IS A SCAM.

Read the reply and for A UK Company, his english is BAD.

Seriously,

I have never come across "Under Insurance plc"

If it were true and they are listed, then check the stock exchange.

There still will not be a "Under Insurance plc" :D

It is a Scammer using buzz words that sound big and therefore real.

Just walk away and you'll be fine.

If you do go ahead, make sure you have a barrel of limoncello to drown the

disappointment away.

Thank all of you for your answers, now I'm 100% sure that I'm not going to give away my money to those scamers!! I finally found other evidences such as they are offering the "new 2008 Kona dawg primo" and the "dawg primo" model wasn't produced by Kona in 2008 it was only until 2007, so they have unexisting things, and also I found this warning about those bike sellers: http://www.sellabike.com/bike_scam_warning.htm

thanks!!

HOW COULD I KNOW THE TRUTH OF WHAT IS HAPPENING??

Why would you buy a bicycle on the internet unless the person lives in the same town with you? It's like buying an iron or an ironing board. There has to be some local place you can buy what you want.

Western Union is a dead giveaway-- run the other direction, do not walk.

HOW COULD I KNOW THE TRUTH OF WHAT IS HAPPENING??
Easy, you have been warned many times by people who will never ask you for money. You have been told many lies by the scammer who wants to take your money.

Of course the scammer will lie to get your money, this is how they work.

The choice is very simple. Send the money and lose it or keep the money and save it.

Again IT IS A SCAM TO STEAL YOUR MONEY!

About 3 years ago several of the Romanian scammers were selling fake high end bikes even had a few sites they were using. This sounds like a cookie-cutter copy of their scams. NoMuie may have some info that would help.

I have an online store and will never use western union or money orders unless they are U.S.POSTAL MONEY ORDERS. I've had many people try to purchase my products with bank money orders and cashier checks. Even though I told them I would not accept them. They even insist on picking up the products. I never do that either. I only sell thru paypal, my merchant acct. or U.S. POSTAL MONEY ORDERS. The U.S.P.S. money orders are verifiable before it's cashed. Also, not all bikes cost thousands of dollars. On my website, I have a linked bicycle product that sells for around $400. It's shift free. An excellent bike but it doesn't cost no thousand dollars. So, price wouldn't be a factor unless something like you showed. One thing though. I sell in Ebay and my prices to me are wholesale but many times I find an ebayer with a price way below my wholesale. This seller could have purchased his items thru liquidations. This could be a reason for the extreme price difference. You never know with prices. But using western union or bank money orders is a clear reason not to purchase.
