Also went so afar as to get the rental agreement, looked up the address on google earth everything seemed to match but something was still nagging me so I did a google search on his name and found this thread.

Hello XXX,
*
The thing is that I've got a lot of offers for the apt . I can do an open/house when I return but I think it is too much trouble .
*
The only option I left open to view/rent the apartment, without waiting, is a reservation of the apartment.. In this case I will cancel all appointments and come show and rent it to only one person. It is much easier for me and for the new tenant .
*
The reservation will imply the rental agreement signed by both parties and the deposit for holding .I will send the rental agreement from here signed, you will sign it also send it back by fax or email (scanned). Once you made this you will need to make available a deposit of $950 dollars here in Salt Lake City . The deposit is refundable .
*
So if you are really interested in the apt then you can reserve it, before the others get a chance to do it .If not, then maybe none of them will hold(reserve) the apt down and we can meet at the open/house .There are weak chances because it is a beauty and one of those 150 will surely reserve it.
*
If you are ready to proceed write down in your next email on the subject line (rental agreement) and your full name, full current address, starting date of the rental, end date . I will reply with all instructions so we can go further .This email should be sent in max a couple of hours. If you wish to reserve please understand perfectly all the details that I told you until now, before you write down "rental agreement" and all the other things .Also if you want to ask about me here are the 2 last tenants that were in the apt :
*
Patrick Harolds - [pattryha@lawyer.com]
Diana F Olpp*** - [francisolppdiana@yahoo.ca]
*
When you make up your mind please inform me with the decision . Not too late because I told you there are many interested in it .
***************************
************************************************
Thank you for understanding and have a great day .

I received the same email as the ones above. The only differences were the location (DC) and the amount ($950.) His name is now E..... and his previous tenants are Patrick and Diana. Patrick's email domain was "lawyer.com", probably because I'm a law school student and he thought that would appeal to me. I guess he didn't expect that I would google the phone number!

It's sad that people are attempting to take advantage of those of us who are looking for a place to live. I'm glad all of you took the time to post and expose this scammer.

Good luck to you all in your searches!

Area code 702 is Las Vegas not Salt Lake City.

Hello,

My name is E...... and I live in the DC area. I was recently called by a few prospective renters asking me if my condo on 13th & N was available for rent. I told them that it was not available and I had a tenant in there for over 3 years already.

After hearing from a number of people about this, I started to look into it. Turns out, someone was using my name and apartment and trying to get people to send a check, sight unseen!!

I'm sorry that this may have happened to people, but, this has nothing to do with me! I had to call my tenant to assure him that I had no intentions of kicking him out. I tried emailing and calling the scammer to stop sending the email out with my information. And now, I see my name come up under anti-fraud international on google!!

I am in the real estate industry and this does not look well for me if people that I want to work with, google my name and find this misleading heading.

I understand the need to vent your frustration about online scams! I am in the same boat. However, I would greatly appreciate if you would change the title to this thread and remove my name so it doesn't look like I was the one doing the scamming. You can see from other posts, this person has used the same template under different names around the country. Please respect this request.

I am as frustrated and harmed by this persons actions as everyone else...

Thank you!!!

@ Eric, you have been a victim of identity theft and you should file a report with the local police too. Also the FBI because they are supposed to be looking into that problem.

Hello,

Thank you for the advice to file a Police report. I did so, and the number is attached.

I would truly appreciate it if we could remove the name on this thread. If the thread is no longer here then my name won't come up on Google under someone committing Real Estate Fraud!

I understand that it is necessary to get the word out about these con artist, but please don't forget the people you are trying to protect with these useful forums. I happen to be in a situation that is damaging from two sides. From the Con artist AND from the people trying to expose the con-artist.

Thank you for considering my side of this. I would appreciate the removal, or at the least, the re-naming of the thread.

Thanks you!

Eric Suissa

Why did you join AFI with your real name?
