There is a gang operating out of Nigeria, that specializes in counterfeit checks, counterfeit US currency, sweetheart scams, and stolen credit card scams, including hotel booking scams.

The leader of the gang is Derek Onward aka Janet Onward. Here are the Nigerian passports they use. Part of the hotel booking scams are obtaining visas, so they use the passports that they use to travel with.

These are their pictures:

@ Top Gun,

We do not say people are ugly here. We do not allow ugliness. We say they are aesthetically challenged. I mean, imagine if one of these people google searches their name and they find this page and they find that you have called them ugly. You could really hurt their feelings. Please have some consideration for their feelings. Sure, they are scammers, but scammers have feelings too.

Yes, Top Gun, aesthetically-challenged. These people are known scammers; anyone in the world can see their passport photo here, and you call them ugly. It could just humiliate them. Please respect the feelings of these criminals.

The Doctor

Of course they have feelings, Spidey. Think of the intense feeling and affection they develop for.....money.

I suppose we can't call them stupid either?

Gentle Giant

No, sorry Shaykh. We should refer to them as "intellectually-challenged".

What about dimbulbs?

Hard to tell. They do seem a little quiet.

Sphinx

The look pretty desperate. I guess they can't travel much any more. :violin:

They might be able to travel around Nigeria, but nowadays they'd be famous.

Cold War Kid
12-29-2007, 07:18 AM
Now that they're famous, maybe they can use their celebrity status for something useful in 2008.

The Doctor
12-30-2007, 05:16 AM
Maybe some prison time.

Quark
12-31-2007, 06:14 AM
Prison time would be nice but if they're stuck in Nigeria it isn't very likely.

Cold War Kid

@ Rick,

Solid and gold-plated in this case. There's no question about what they did.

Spidey

@ Rick,

What she said. Don't worry about it. If they are here they are scammers or have been involved in scams.

The Doctor
01-14-2008, 12:30 AM
Yes Rick, even when they email us and whine and complain that they aren't being treated fairly, they didn't get here by being Boy Scouts.

Sphinx
01-14-2008, 03:54 AM
Some of these scammers are complaining? :D

Quark
01-14-2008, 05:04 AM
They always think they are big men when they are scamming and then they cry like babies when they get caught.

Cold War Kid
01-14-2008, 09:59 AM
Hang on, some of these people are complaining? About what? isn't this free publicity for them?

They can walk around internet cafes in Lagos and say, "hey look, I'm on a webpage. I'm a celebrity. Are you smallboi"?

Nanook

Fame and fortune, who could ask for more?

Kit Kat
01-15-2008, 05:57 AM
Fortune I think they want. I don't think they want this kind of fame. It ruins their James Bond-ish image about being a bunch of smart-guy sneaky scammers.

YogiBear

If I remember correctly, departed said it was the old hotel+visa scam and checks that they were doing.

The hotel+visa scam sort of requires them to use copies of the passports they use to travel, or the travel visas are no use to them later. It also links them pretty tightly to the stolen credit card information they use to do the scam.

I have a friend who runs a hotel that got hit. They book rooms for several of their customers (they play the role of travel agent) using stolen credit card information, at hotels that help customers get travel visas when they stay there.

Later (after copies of the visas are obtained) the scammer playing travel agent cancels the reservations and tells the hotel that he has already refunded his clients money and gets them to credit the refund to his card (also stolen)

Since they counterfeit checks, the visas should be easy to forge and use to travel. Nasty!

YogiBear

Got this from my friend and it shows how the scammers do this format.

I don't know if this is from the Onward gang, but it is a new version of the same format. Thought you guys may find it interesting.

OK, here's some solid facts.

Individuals claiming to be Omobolaji King and Oluwayomi Josephaka "Yommy" Yusuff (for and on behalf of himself and his brother Yusuf Michael Oluwaseun Yusuf) have contacted us to express their unhappiness and displeasure at finding their passports posted on this website and in this thread. In order to be fair in this matter, the following is submitted for consideration of the jury (i.e., that's you, folks). You may attach any weight and credence to these statements as you so choose.

In order to simplify their arguments, their statements of fact are as follows (some editing has been done):

1. Omobolaji King and Oluwayomi Josephaka "Yommy" Yusuff (for and on behalf of himself and his brother Yusuf Michael Oluwaseun Yusuf) claim that they are not now scammers.

2. Omobolaji King and Oluwayomi Josephaka "Yommy" Yusuff (for and on behalf of himself and his brother Yusuf Michael Oluwaseun Yusuf) claim that they have never been scammers.

3. Omobolaji King and Oluwayomi Josephaka "Yommy" Yusuff (for and on behalf of himself and his brother Yusuf Michael Oluwaseun Yusuf) claim that they have no knowledge of how copies of their passports came to be on someone's else's computer.

4. Omobolaji King and Oluwayomi Josephaka "Yommy" Yusuff (for and on behalf of himself and his brother Yusuf Michael Oluwaseun Yusuf) claim that someone (a scammer) has used their passports in a scam and that they, Omobolaji King and Oluwayomi Josephaka "Yommy" Yusuff (for and on behalf of himself and his brother Yusuf Michael Oluwaseun Yusuf), are innocent victims of identity theft.

5. And most interesting of all, Omobolaji King and Oluwayomi Josephaka "Yommy" Yusuff (for and on behalf of himself and his brother Yusuf Michael Oluwaseun Yusuf) claim that have no personal knowledge of or acquaintance with anyone named "Derek Onward".

6. Omobolaji King and Oluwayomi Josephaka "Yommy" Yusuff (for and on behalf of himself and his brother Yusuf Michael Oluwaseun Yusuf) do state that they currently reside in Nigeria.

So we just want to enter that into the record. Other facts are known which would contradict some of these statements but they will not be submitted into evidence at this time.
