    Thank you for coming to answer these questions orlandovacationinfo. But I would very much appreciate that you take the time to register on site prior to defending the company anonymously the next time around.

    The lawsuits were indeed about trademark and copyright infringement; twice with Disney and once with Marriott. And contrary to what you say, mention was made in that of the Marriott as to how your clients were treated. Refer back to this post for a refresher, and more specifically, this part;

    26. Defendants, without authority to do so, have also, on several occasions, contacted customers or prospective customers of Marriott, via the telephone, on-line and by local and international mailings, and promised non-existent "free vacation packages" and "prizes" which Defendants would represent included free multiple night stays at various Miami and Orlando Marriott Hotels. Once contact was made by Defendants with Marriott's contacts and customers, Defendants would request the unsuspecting participant to pay up front with their credit cards certain "taxes" or "599$ fee" or other initial amount to claim their "prizes." On some occasions, once the customer would realize that they had been swindled by Defendants because no such "free vacation packages" or "prizes" existed, Defendants would refuse to refund the amounts paid by the customer or offer the customer to put them on other non-Marriott Hotels. Some of these customers have complained directly to Marriott as a result of Defendants' deceptive and unfair trade practices.
    Furthermore, numerous web postings will argue about just "how you treat customers";

    BBB Warns of Deceptive Travel-Related Promotions
    2/10/2006

    Arlington, VA, February 10, 2006 - Better Business Bureaus across the United States and Canada are warning consumers about an increase in deceptive travel-related offers.

    Consumers are contacting the BBB to inquire about travel companies that promise "too-good-to-be-true" travel deals. These offers arrive unexpectedly in consumers' mailboxes, or over the telephone, office fax machine or Internet.

    Typically, the consumer is told that they have won a "free" trip and must call a number to claim their prize. Or they receive a fax at their place of business promoting an unbelievable vacation deal that looks as if it came through inter-office channels. Others were contacted by someone offering a travel club membership, allegedly worth thousand of dollars. Rest of story here.

    Have You Been "Selected" for a Trip? -- BEWARE

    How do consumers get involved with unethical sellers of travel? Answering advertisements placed by travel agencies that offer trips to exotic places at bargain prices is one way. Another is filling out cards for vacation trips and dropping them in boxes at flea markets, fairs or other places that attract large crowds. You might receive an internet pop-up informing you that you have won a free vacation or you may also receive a "certificate" or a postcard in the mail. Often, the offer is for a discount travel package.

    If you answer an ad, an internet pop-up, or fill out a card, chances are you'll be contacted by a representative of the travel agency informing you that you've been selected for your dream vacation. The choice of words should sound a warning. If you're told you've won a free trip or travel package, Florida law stipulates that you cannot be charged anything other than the cost to get your prize to you. If it's mailed, you can be charged postage; if it's delivered by special carrier, you can be charged the carrier's fee.

    Sometimes, however, you'll be told you've been selected for a cruise or vacation -- but you'll need to send an advance payment to cover certain fees. This should be a warning that you've been targeted for something that may be less than a legitimate offer.

    Consumers who agree to pay the fees involved in the prizes for which they've been selected should be aware that they might not be getting what they expect. In a worst-case scenario, they'll discover they have nothing to show for their expense and only the courts to turn to for recourse.

    Always check around with a couple of local agencies and compare what is available and the prices. Conduct internet searches and ask the travel representatives questions about the offer.

    none

    I'm a computer programmer working for this company.

    Estrella, If you would like to reserve your stay at the hotel in Orlando, call our reservations department. The will tell you if there are any additional taxes you need to pay. There will not be any other charges when you get to the hotel. When the reservations department makes your final reservation, you will receive an itinerary and your booking will be confirmed but you can call the hotel and verify if you want. To get the 2 entrances to univerasal studios you have to attend a short presentation. I hope you will use your package and enjoy your trip.

    As far as the lawsuits mentioned on this site, they have to do with technical details of how Disney trademarks were used, and they have nothing to do with the products we offer or how we treat customers.

    Hello Estrella,

    I cannot say what charges a hotel may ask for, as these will vary. Included in taxes, you may find service charges as well. If the reservation is not recognized by the hotel, you may be asked to pay the entire stay at their ongoing rate.

    Can you please tell me what consumer defense agency you contacted in Florida?

    If possible for you, I would like you to post all exchanges you had with tuviajas, but please remove all of your personal information from it first. This might help me to get a clearer picture of what can be expected for you. If you need help doing this, please contact me by private message.

    Thank youy

    Thank you for your extense response, in fact I fact you are more than right, I have payed 450 USD for 7 nights in an hotel either calypsocay or radisson, including breakfast for 4 people, the y didn.t tell me anything about any conference or aomething similiar, but they did offer us 2 tickets for universal studios and an extra bonus of 3 days to punta cana, or cancun or las vegas (of course the extra taxes on our charge). Question: if I go to the hotel and they didn`t have the reserve but they recognize the promotion, i can stay there, what other new charges can they make? people from the agency told me by mail that the taxes are about 70usd,but if I don`t stay in the hotel I wont have to pay no maney right? well it will be only the fact that I will confinrm my lost of the 450USD payed. they sent me a kind of certificate in wich is included the payed amount and also listed the basics topics or benefits. Also I forgot to tell you that I once called a person from the consumer defense over there in miami and introduced to him my case, and apparently thay calles them and ask them to fullfill a form inwich they had to explain the situation, after that they change their way to treat me and calle me directly to my house, and now they called me to let me know that my package was espiring, that is why I though maybe i could take a the chance to see if i can really use at least the 7 days at the hotel because i travellint to new york but if I have the chance I will love to go to orlando.
    well now i think i gave you the hole picture and I hope to see your comments about them, thank you for all your support and patient to explain all this to me!!

    Hola y bienvenidos a Estrella AFI!

    La respuesta no es fácil de dar, pero intentaré ayudarle a tomar una decisión con toda la información a mano.

    Estas empresas, que promueven propiedades de tiempo compartido, operan en toda legalidad. No son una estafa en sí, sino que no dan los detalles completos del paquete o premios que ofrecen a sus clientes. Que así por lo general no revelan a toda la cantidad de dólares que deben ser pagados, ya sea derecho o impuesto. Personalmente considero que este tipo de publicidad es engañosa.

    Usted no dio todos los detalles de lo que ha pagado, así que voy a tratar de darle una idea de lo que podría esperar cuando viaje;

    - Se le requiere asistir a una presentación de tiempo compartido, que dura unos 90 minutos y es simplemente una session de venta de alta presión para la propiedad que se está promoviendo. Si no asiste a esta presentación, es posible que va incurrir en gastos extra en su hotel. Usted debe tener cuidado con la lectura de todos los detalles de su paquete, las inclusiónes y condiciones de venta.

    - En el peor de los casos, es posible que al llegar a su hotel, le avisan que no dispongan de una reserva para usted. Si la reserva está allí, usted puede tener cargos adicionales para pagar impuestos, pero esto no sucede siempre.

    A medida que la cantidad que le cobraron no es muy alta y que tiene que viajar, me permito sugerir que usted sea dispuesta a pagar por otro hotel si su reservacion no esta respetada.

    El lado negativo de las transacciones de este tipo es que saben que su único recurso en el caso de insatisfacción será en el Estado de Florida, donde está registrada la empresa. Es por eso que hemos visto tantas quejas en internet, el costo de llevar a cabo un procedimiento legal sería mucho superior a la cantidad de dinero perdido, o la insatisfacción con la información suministrada.

    Usted encontrará a continuación, un artículo escrito por la División de Servicios al Consumidor de la Florida con respecto a dichas transacciones;

    http://www.800helpfla.com/newsletter/2010/042010.html

    El único punto a tener en cuenta a la hora de entrar en este tipo de operaciones es que cualquier problema que surja estan por su cuenta y sin esperanza (a menos que seas rico) que se haga justicia.

    Hello Estrella and welcome to AFI!

    The answer isn't an easy one to give, but I'll try and do my best to help you make a decision with all the information at hand.

    These companies, who promote time share properties, operate in all legality. They are not a scam in itself, but they do fail to give the complete details of the package/prize that they offer to their clients. They as well usually fail to divulge all the dollar amounts that need to be paid, be it fees or taxes. I personally find this kind of publicity misleading at best.

    You did not give the full details of what you paid for, so I will try and give you an idea of what could be expected when you travel;

    - you will be required to attend a time share presentation, which lasts about 90 minutes and is simply a high pressures sales pitch for the property that is being promoted. If you do not attend this presentation, you may be incurring extra charges on your hotel or land portion deal. You should be careful about reading the full details of your package, the inclusion and conditions of sale.

    - in the worst case scenario, you may be told upon arrival at your hotel that they do not have a reservation for you. If your reservation is there, you may have extra charges to pay for taxes, but this doesn't always happen.
    As the amount that you were charged isn't very high and that you have to travel, I would suggest that you be prepared to pay for another hotel should your reservation not be respected.

    The downside of transactions like this is that they know that your only recourse in the case of insatisfaction will be in the State of Florida, where the company is registered. This is why you have seen so many complaints on internet; the cost of pursuing a legal procedure would far outweigh the amount of money lost, or the insatisfaction with the information given.

    You will find below, an article written by the Division of Consumer Services in Florida regarding such transactions;

    http://www.800helpfla.com/newsletter/2010/042010.html

    The one point to keep in mind when entering this type of transaction is that you are on your own with any problem that arises and with no hope (unless you're rich) to see justice done.

    Good afternoon, saddly i bought the travel package due to no previous information, i was about to let it expire but suddenly a person called me on firday to let me know that my package was expiring and asked me if a wasn`t really going to use it, I actually have to travel to USA on november ( ia hve already the tickets) and i was thinking what if I keep stick to the plan and follow their game and try to find if there isnt really any benefits? of course I won`t pay any extra money, I asked them about the amount of taxes previously referred and they answered me that i wont be more than 70usd for the entire package, so, what do you think? what do you recommend me??
