Subject: Cute English Bulldog puppy needs a good home

    Hello,

I am Graham Mark. I newly relocated to West Africa with my family and we also came along with our lovely female english bulldog puppy (Lucy) and after a while we discovered that the weather here in Africa is not too good for her and right now i need Lucy to return back to a good home in the State because she is the kind of puppy that deserves the best home.

I was browsing through the internet and came accross your email id and i decided to contact you to know if you would be interested in having her since you reside in the State. So if you are interested in having Lucy, kindly reply back to me on this email address (graham_pets@yahoo.com) before i give you more pictures and more informations about her. Attached to this message is one of her lovely picture.

    Thanks
    Graham Mark

The scam is often advanced fees. Usually they want you to pay transportation fees. You can pay those but you will never get the puppy. There is no puppy.

If they are sending you an animal to take care of they may want to pay you for several months boarding and they will overpay with a check. They will want you to send the balance back to them by wire transfer (Western Union of course) so that is a fake check scam because the check is always fake.
Silence is the scammer's best friend; knowledge is the scammer's worst enemy. 沈黙は詐欺師のよき友達、知識は詐欺師の天敵。Think globally, act globally.

Miyuki is very correct - I've baited this type of scammer and it always comes down to paying:
    1. for the transportation fees
    2. for boarding fees
    3. for shots or vet care the fake puppy may need

Nigeria and Cameroon seem to be hotspots. Nigeria is #1 for this scam.

(The Cameroon bait was a group bait and the most interesting -- it lead to receiving emails from barristers and also emails from the Cameroon FBI I didn't think Cameroon had an FBI but... )

But sadly this is the kind of scam that animal lovers will fall for easily.
