Philippines: 4 Nigerians arrested for credit card fraud

Four Nigerians nabbed for credit card fraud

    abs-cbnNEWS.com | 07/17/2009

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested four Nigerian nationals for alleged credit card fraud.

The NBI identified the four Nigerians as Benson Alochukwa Onwuama, Rotini Mumuni Oladapo, Robinson Adatire, and Olarewaju Mojeed Ayegbusi.

The bureau said the foreigners were arrested at their apartment in Bacoor town, Cavite province last June 25. It said that the suspects duped female victims into buying an electronic Philippine Airlines ticket, which was procured through the use of a fake credit card.

Charges for violation of the Access Device Act for engaging in the manufacture, distribution and use of counterfeit credit cards have been filed against the Nigerians.

The Nigerians were detained at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig.

The NBI has transferred the custody on the four suspects to the Bureau of Immigration.

Immigration chief Marcelino Libanan has ordered the deportation of the foreigners.
