    OCHA Vacancy

    Is this email legit [jobs@ocha-sw.org]? They are circulating OCHA Vacancy Newsletter in pdf format. I cannot attached it here because the pdf file is too large to upload. Anyway I check the email's website and it is non-existent. So I guess this is fake. FYI - Fairwatch

    A dead website is usually a pretty good clue that it ain't real. if you post the email here that's an even better clue. Then we can all look at it.

    UNOCHA Employment Scam

    I had applied for a job in response to a United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) Vacancy Newsletter in August 2009 which I found on the Internet. Following the application for the job, I received an electronic interview form to complete and return to the Human Resource Section UNOCHA at the email address provided in the form together with a scanned copy of academic credentials. Subsequently, in a week's time, I received an employment offer letter together with a contract from UNOCHA.

    After accepting the employment offer letter, I received requests for payment for housing, training and legal fees in relation to the employment with UNOCHA from the fake UNOCHA organisation and they asked him to wire money into their agent's account (Maxwell China Ltd A/C OSA82753293000249 at the Bank of Communications 188 Yin Cheng Road Central Shanghai 200120) to process housing, training and travel arrangement (H-3 visa). In total, I ended up paying USD 14,745.40 to Maxwell China Ltd, the agent of the fake UNOCHA agency.

    Due to the delay in receiving any hard copy documents from UNOCHA in the timeframe committed to by them, I checked the authenticity of the employment offer letter and contract with the Human Resource Section of UNOCHA in Geneva . They confirmed that the employment offer was fake.

    The email addresses involved in this scam included: [jobs@ocha-sw.org], [recruitment@ocha-un.org[/email], [hr@ocha-sw.org], [hr@ocha-un.org], [housing@ocha-sw.org[/email] and [travels@maxwell-int.org].

    I will be grateful for any investigation that can be done to nab the culprits and recover my money from them.

    Sorry to hear about your loss.

    What you posted here might prevent someone else for falling for this one.

    As to money recovery, the chances of that are about zero.

    As for investingation we can't do anything without emails and email headers. (See here: http://antifraudintl.org/showthread.php?t=15352).

    You can post the emails you received here. Please remove personal information like your name and email address. You also received a confirmation email when you registered. You can use that one as well.

    Well the money was wired to scammers account in Shanghai, China. Could you also please investigate where this email originated from (another address of the scammer)
