Have an question!!about courier service

I have an question here. And now i posting my situation here.
I have been telling one of my web friends that he sending a parcel to me.From UK sent to my country's which is MALAYSIA . And he told me that i have to pay the delivery charges , is it real ? why not senders pay the charges but receiver? Because the delivery charges is really damn much that amount 700(usd dollars).
As i know that , sender should be paying all the fees before the parcel is sending out is it?
Do you all really know this is true?And i only knew that web friend's is only a week.
Kindly reply to let me know more information, this is the company "EUROPEAN EXPRESS INTERNATIONAL COURIER SERVICE" , i had sent the mail to them and asking about this. But since its was emergency , that the parcel with arrive tomorrow . Need to know it urgently.. Thanks yaa everybodys

It's a scam of some kind. $700 to deliver a package is ridiculous.

But they haven't tell me that how to made the payments. Just told me when the parcel arrive then i have to paid the $700 .

They will probably tell you to use Western Union. That means scam.

may be they are a small company, may be they do not exist, but think about it:

what will it cost to send the same parcel from Malaysia to London, there are volume and weight issues and frankly if your parcel is very heavy of big the price may be right, also depends on insurance, means value and customs handling.

I do not know what the 700 include, could be customs that will be definitely your cost.
