1．同情心につけ込んでくる　（孤児、未亡人、癌、自然災害を話にもち出す）。
2．多額の金額を提示している。
3．知らない人物から送られている。
4．フリーメールを使用している　(Yahoo.fr)。
5．違法な活動が含まれている　（モニーロンダリング、密輸入，等。
6．名前ではなく”Dear,” などをEメールのはじまりに使っている。
7．早急に返答するよう求めてくる。
8．最終的には先にお金を支払うことを要求している。
9．下手な英語で書かれている。
10．http://www.scamomatic.com/ がスキャムの情報を提示してくれる。
