We got this same reply to something we are selling on craigslist. Just happened yesterday, May 28, 2012.
Anybody have and actual buying info on this person? Hate to turn someone away if there is actually no history of scam. i would never accept check as payment, but would hold items sale using it as a guarantee of cash.

It's a fake check scam. Whatever you're doing, move on. There's nothing good for you in dealing with "Gary".

Internet searches are invaluable... just got "pinged" on a Craigslist item I had for sale; 2 different replies from the same thread with the final one being from "garymeghan@jktevaluation.org", the first being from "sholingh65@gmail.com". They are offering check only payment and saying an "assistant" would pick up the item because "Gary" was going to London on business.
In addition to possible check fraud, they may be running a social engineering scam for identify theft.
