You should report it to the police. Granted, a successful outcome for you is unlikely, but the police can use the information that you give them as intelligence information to establish fraud patterns and trends, and focus their efforts accordingly. There is the possiblility that with enough complaints about specific individuals, they can eventually track them down. Sooner or later, most of these scumbags get overconfident and slip up. The information you provide might be enough to nail them.

Shadow is correct. Reporting fraud is key to combating fraud.

You should report it to Scam Watch, which has been set up by the Australian government to help track and reduce fraud.

i have reported it and given police a copy of all emails sent to and from them, my last email to the scammer was that i would report this if they didnt refund the money i had paid that obviously they said they could not refund it unless i paid the money transfer fee too them and they couldnt take that out of the $550 i had already paid so i said no. so all reported but now I have just received threatening emails from the scammers about posting comments on this website I have also reported this too police just now. I am not so worried as i just moved house over the weekend so they do not have my current address but they do have other personal information that the police are aware of.. i thought scammers would just up and go never too be heard of again once they got their money back.

Once that have gotten some money out of you, they will try and squeeze you for more.
