:spudnikheadphones: Report American Express card member service to the United States Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov if you are being unfairly charged late fees after they have received your mail in payment that has been postmarked on or before the due date.

American Express is unfairly charging late fees to credit card accounts in the amount of  $25.00 (US Dollars). This company has a poor inefficient ability to process payments by mail.

Be honest and descriptive in your report, you can use the following information or you may find some of this to be helpful.

The following credit card account# XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX was unfairly charged a late fee in the amount of $25.00 on 03-23-12 after the balance was paid in full. Payment was made by mail using a Western Union money order in the amount of $56.65, MTCN# xxxxxxxxxxxx. The due date on the account is 03-23-2012, the Western Union money order was printed on 03-21-2012 and the payment was postmarked on March 22, 2012 through the United States Postal Service. American Express charged a late fee because they received the payment through the mail on 03-24-2012.

Out of frustration I contacted American Express at 1-888-246-1076 in order to have the late fee charge removed the representative on the phone was not able to remove the charge on the account. I latter contacted the accounting manager who claimed to be in charge of customer service at the time when this event took place.

    Name: Lynn
    Employee ID#31164
    Date: 03-27-12
    Time 12:30AM

This person refused to remove the late fee from the account, I was very angry over this matter and I had stated to here over the phone that I wanted to have this account closed out and I did not want any more future business with American Express. She had stated to me on the phone that this account was closed out. I latter received another bill for this account containing a $25.00 late fee charge along with a $0.57 interest charge and there was no paper indicating that the account was no longer active.
