If you don't give personal or financial info, what can they do with it?

I think I fell for this!!

The main thing they want to do is send you a fake check. If you didn't give them any info you're probably safe although they know your email address so they'll send you more scam formats.

  10. The Kroges scam got my phone # and sent a text, knew it was a scam, but being in the Banking industry I led them to me, the number they used was 256-588-8317, I never gave my address but a usps should up with a fake cashiers check for $2470, was told to keep 450 and buy 4 Walmart cards at 500 each!! Package came from California, the land of idiots! The California AG refuses to investigate, I called the bank that the fake check was made to represent, spoke to branch manger in Texas, he was on top of it and reported to US Postal and Secret Service!! California is messed up that they obviously allow criminal activity like this and can care less!!

@ Timothy, you could always contact the FBI, Secret Service, or Postal Inspectors yourself too. It's faster that way.

I received a very similar message just this week. I was somewhat suspicious because the return email address was krogerinc@gmail.com plus the grammar was bad and the end of the email cut off mid-sentence. I always know a scam email by the bad grammar. They didn't ask for any financial information, my cell and physical address which they could probably get by using my name. I thought I would see if it was for real, but now I know better thanks to this site and a couple of others. When my 'envelope' comes, I will know not to do anything with it and will report it to anyone who will listen. I can at least report it to gmail. I do have a phone number, (570) 257-2894 though I'm sure the guy's name is fake.

I did receive one of those fake Cashier's checks for $2400. The guy keeps texting me asking when I am going to complete my assignment.

I reported all names and numbers to this site: IC3.gov

It's an FBI website. We'll see what happens.

All checks must be handed into your local law enforcers together with any other evidence you hold.
