Is she real?
I've been chatting up this woman for a while. She had said her name was Valentina Menkova.

The picture of her passport was too big to attatch to this forum.
In the details it said that the picture origin was ACD Systems Digital Imaging on 16NOV2009. based on this description, would you say it is real or fake?

Hi Warrior0013

and :welcome: to AFI

Thank you for your post and query.

ACD Systems Digital Imaging is a photographic manipulaton specialist software producer in the USA - see http://www.acdsee.com/

This suggests that the image you have has been edited using a product, such as ACDSee Photo Manager 12 which would indicate that it is a fake. I doubt if the Russian passport office would use an American photo-editing program to produce their passports!

It may be possible for us to host the image for you, depending on what type it is and how big. The other possibility is for you to upload it to somewhere like "Flickr" and then use the link to that in the post.

Again, thank you for your post and joining us,

Garreg Ddu

ahem... it´s a scan :)

if i scan my passport it is still no fake, though there would be something about my canon lide in the exif-data.

but of course in this case here it will be some fake again.

 Oops - I was in such a hurry I forgot that it would be a scan......

However, if it was a direct scan it would have the scanner hardware and software stamp on it, not some US photoediting program. It has been "altered".

Another thing that got my attention is the Origin Date taken was 19NOV2009, but the issue date on the passport was 20JUN2010. Are scans made before the passport is issued?

Totally fake. I'm viewing it from my cellphone, but even at the small screen i can see it's a fake. One example: wrong font in the machine readable zone.

ok, wrong checkdigits, too... (I had time to review it now)

VALENTINA MENKOVA

All,
I came across your Post while trying to research information about a Valentina Menkova. Warrior0013, you may know her. I attached her passport. She was correspponding with me via email and reached a point where she wanted me to send her money. I figurered this is how it would end up, but I went along anyway. She never responded to any my questions and only talked about herself and how she was looking forward to meeting me. Fortunately I did not give her any information about me or where I live. The last email was from her explaining she was at the travel agent and did not have enough money to purchase her ticket. She wanted me to send $990 of the $1290 for her ticket to the following Western Union in Moscow.

MASTER-CAPITAL
Schelkovskoe Shosse, 2a
Moscow, 105122
+7-499-3672045

I am new to your Post and do not know whehther this information is useful to anyone, but if it prevents one person from sending money to these scams, then I can say I did a good deed for the day.

you´re right - it´s a fake. you can see it.

haven´t got all my tools here, but i tried to verify the number. result:

Результат запроса
По Вашему запросу о действительности паспорта РФ 7501 № 011575 получен ответ о том, что данный паспорт Â«В электронных учетах ФМС России в настоящее время не значится».

what means, that this number is not known ;-) (sorry, had to use google translation as i do not speak russian)

HI guys. I think this site is brilliant. I've uncovered a few scams myself and it's great to see a place like this where people are fighting back.

Could you look at the document below and give me an opinion on whether or not it is genuine?

funny picture of the id-owner... not allowed in this way. ok, to the facts:

the 24 in the ID-number would be: Ивановская область

562-001 would be: Оренбургская

there´s a mismatch ;-)

and: the number is not known by the russian gov.

i think, i can stop reviewing this passport as the given information should be enough.

Nice.

I must admit I was immediately suspicious of the photo as I've never seen one like this. (But then again the only ones I've ever seen are fake!!)

So that is pretty conclusive, bad picture, number mismatch and neither of the numbers actually correspond to the written region!!

Thanks a lot Frost, you are an absolute one-man-army mate!

I had doubts and its good to be able to come to a conclusion without wasting a trip to Russia!

This is the fourth scam I have uncovered in the last two weeks!! This Eastern European dating busines is a complete waste of time!

Name ?

O hai !

The paper document looks real enough for an international passport and th figures seem to coincide, but I am not very happy with the name and the picture.
The picture looks like a passable photohop addition.

The name:

In Russia, people have 3 names :Imia (given name), Otchestvo (fathersname) and Familia (surname)

Example:

Boris Anatolyevitch Semiyagin = Boris, son of Anatoliy. Surname = Semiyagin. This is for a male.

A female: example: Boris' sister would be called

Nadezhda Anatolyeva (daughter of Anatoliy) Semiyagin. Semiyagin is still the surname.

On the passport: Mouhamedova (daughter of Mohammed) is an Otchestvo (Fathersname) and not a surname and I cannot believe that any administration would accept that as a surname.

Just my two Kopek's worth...

Jacques de Molay.
